‘Meeting people has been the key to our success’

- MIKE DAVIS

What a way to end the auction year. Our October sale certainly exceeded my expectations and I think a lot of other people will have been surprised at how well it went, too. I was looking for 200 lots and a £1.5 million total. In the end, we had 212 bikes on offer and the total sale figure was in excess of £2 million. A lot of hard work went into staging this sale, which I think offered something for everybody. The entire H&H team put a lot of effort into it and the result was our best ever motorcycle sale in terms of total sale.

In a very tough year, we’ve sold around £4 million-worth of bikes over our two main sales and online sales. I think that’s a good result. And those two events have been the highlight of the year for me. It’s been great being able to get out and meet people again. I think meeting people has been the key to our success this year.

The team will be working hard to maintain our momentum. For myself, I’m looking forward to getting out to as many events as possible. I’m a rider, restorer and owner – just like our clients and bidders. As a company, we attend the big events like the two Stafford shows, the Bristol

Show and the Banbury Run, but I try to get out to a couple of events every month – on and old bike if possible. I’ll be on hand to chat about future auctions and valuations... and just enjoying myself like everyone else.

As we get to the end of the year, I’d like to thank everyone who made a very difficult year into a successful and enjoyable one. Our sellers, buyers and bidders – I thank you all and look forward to meeting as many as possible of you next year. And I’d also like to thank all the team at H&H. Everyone has bent over backwards to build and maintain our reputation for personal service, expertise and enthusiasm.

I think the success of the October sale proves that we’re well on our way to becoming one of the leaders in motorcycle auctions worldwide. Now we have to keep it up as we move into 2022. We have three live sales at the NMM provisionally scheduled for March, July and October, plus another three online sales throughout the year.

We’ll be looking for around 150-200 bikes at the live sales and maybe 40-50 or so at the online-only And we’ve already started consigning for the first sale of the year at the NMM. I can’t wait to see you there... handh.co.uk
