OWNER’S VIEW

- KEITH LLOYD

Keith Lloyd’s Nile Green Quattro is believed to be one of just two such cars in that colour, instead of the much more usual red. However, as Keith relates, the car hasn’t always looked this good. ‘When I bought my Quattro in 2001, it needed a complete rebuild. I had to rebuild more or less everything; the engine, suspension, bodywork, steering, interior and electrics. It had been seriously abused, and while many questioned my sanity, I think I made the right decision. Even fine looking Quattros often need work, so I thought I might as well buy a project and start from scratch. That way, I knew what I was getting and I could also ensure everything was as good as it could be. The rebuild took two years after which I used it every day for six years but these days it leads a pampered existence only venturing out on dry days. There really is nothing like a Quattro.’
