BROOKLANDS AND BUS HAPPENINGS
You can ride on the Routemaster that appears in this article, as well as explore several other examples of the breed, at the London Bus Museum, based at Brooklands. Thanks to Roger Stagg, Alan Eggleton and everyone at the museum for all their help.
Originally called the Cobham Bus Museum, a move to purpose-built premises at Brooklands took place in 2011. The London Bus Museum houses the world’s largest display of working London buses, from 1875 to the 1990s, as well as vast amounts of memorabilia.
Don’t miss London Bus Museum’s Spring Gathering at Brooklands on 19 April 2015, when there’s the chance to ride on RML 2760.
Brooklands Museum also hosts a wide range of events. Incorporating the original buildings and even some of the banking from the legendary pre-WW2 race circuit, the museum houses a unique collection of cars and aircraft, many with Brooklands connections.
