Clubs are the lifeblood of the classic car industry, and it’s great that there’s now a set of industry gongs to celebrate the movement’s achievements. Although this is not the first set of club awards out there, this one is shaping up to be the definitive event – with national recognition, a signature show, and some very important backers.

But let’s not forget the most important element of the National Club Awards: You. Without the enthusiasts who tirelessly put their time in to support the vehicles of their choice, there wouldn’t be events such as this; there wouldn’t be a huge interest in the scene today, and most importantly, many of the cars we see and admire at classic car shows would simply no longer exist.

So, although at the end of the awards night there will only be a handful of victors, in reality, everyone who does what they do for the cause is a winner in my book.

I’m looking forward to seeing how the awards night pans out – and finally giving some very generous people the recognition they deserve.
