Another reader’s tale of registration frustration
Ian Banks’ 17 February Letter of the Week ‘DVLA troubles with my Triumph Stag’s V5C’ grabbed my attention.
I am rebuilding a very rare foreign car that has not been made for 45 years and was first registered on 1 January 1960. I had asked the DVLA if I could have ‘declared manufactured 1959’ put in the special notes on the V5C. After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing starting in May 2015 with documentation and letters, my V5C came back showing the car as being first registered 31 December 1959. There was nothing in the special notes section. What a waste of time.
I made two phone calls to them in November and wrote to the agency’s chief executive on 27 January 2016. I have heard nothing back so far. John Wright, Holbeach St Johns, Lincolnshire
