1951 Allard P1

Dumpy it might have been, and clearly it lacked the brutal simplicity of the J2, but that can’t take away the fact a P1 won the 1952 Monte Carlo Rally, driven by ‘the boss’, Sydney Allard. Just over 500 were built but by the mid-1970s many had been scrapped, bargain basement buyers clearly not enamoured by the flathead Ford V8 engine and gearbox or looks. H&H’s car has been owned by a member of the Allard family and between 2010 and 2011 the engine was rebuilt and the body painted. A big, fast, comfortable rarity with a tempting estimate.
