BRISTOL CLASSIC CAR SHOW

-

There’s a ‘Beauty versus Beast’ theme this year, which will see pretty classics from the likes of Triumph and Jowett pitted against muscle and custom cars. It’s the TVR East Midlands Regional meet, and the show is celebrating 30 years of the Ford Capri 280. There’ll be plenty of trade, club, and food stalls. Visitors can camp on the Friday and Saturday nights and there’s loads of entertainment lined up for the Sunday. www.capriclub2000.co.uk, 0771 418 1250 (Alan). The Double 12 is always guaranteed to provide excellent competition. Saturday sees the speed trials held on the Mercedes-Benz World track, followed on Sunday by the driving tests. There’s a concours on both days, and cars will also be tackling the fearsome test hill. This year is also the 25th anniversary of the museum, so a special Silver Anniversary trophy will be awarded to the best silver car in the concours. www.brooklandsmuseum.com

This is a real family event, and one we thoroughly recommend. There’s always an excellent display of classics to drool over, and plenty of car clubs attend so you can chat with like-minded owners. A wide variety of stands are available to browse around, and the event finishes with an auction courtesy of Charterhouse. Doors open at 9.30am, and being a popular show, you’ll want to get down to Somerset early. www.carsandevents.com
