‘The instant you walk through the Revival’s ticket stiles you’re engrossed in the mid-1960s. The attention to detail is phenomenal, from the strict criteria of the cars taking part right down to the food packaging used in the event’s pop-up branch of Tesco. You’re encouraged to play an active part in it too, which is why it’s the only event in the classic calendar where it feels entirely normal to be sat alongside CCW colleagues dressed as Fleet Street hacks, RAF pilots and spivs. It’s an event that revels in the spectacle of old cars, which is why in previous years there have been races exclusively for Jaguar D-types and pit garages stuffed with Ford GT40s. It’s wonderful escapism you can involve the whole family in – I love it.’
