BEAULIEU, HAMPSHIRE, 8 MAY

A low-drag E-type racer and a gorgeous 3.5-litre MkV were among the visitor favourites at the National Motor Museum’s new one-day Jaguar rally.

Both glorious classics were chosen by as runners-up in the Public Choice awards at the inaugural Simply Jaguar event that followed similar events for Porsche, Ford and Aston Martin owners. The winning vote went to Steve Varden’s lowered Jaguar XKR-S.

The 319 cars on show included displays from the Dorset, West Sussex and Isle of Wight branches of the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club, with many of them taking part in a cavalcade through Beaulieu’s grounds.

Public relations manager Jane Riddiford says: ‘It was another resounding success for the Simply franchise. Together with glorious sunshine, visitors were treated to a Jaguar display to be treasured.’ Malcolm Watson’s 1963 Jaguar E-type low-drag coupé was a big hit with Simply visitors, coming second in a public vote.
