1953 Aston Martin DB3S
Intended to be Aston Martin Sir David Brown’s own car, the list of drivers who subsequently competed in this 3S is a roll-call of motorsport’s golden era: Sir Stirling Moss, Peter Collins, Tony Brooks, Roy Salvadori, Reg Parnell and Graham Hill all had a turn at the wheel not only at UK circuits but at Spa, the Mille Miglia and the Nurburgring. The story begins in an intriguing way with the car initially being fitted with a glassfibre body, this being removed and replaced with a repaired aluminium substitute to enter Le Mans following the loss of two works entries. The competition history is enough to make a book on its own, while latterly it was bought by the seller in 2007 and has taken part in 2008, 2010 and 2014 Mille Miglia Retros. A great opportunity.
