1949 Aston Martin team car
Formerly a works team car that finished seventh at the 1949 Le Mans 24 Hours (and, just two weeks later, fifth at the Spa 24 Hours), this car has more in its favour, being the first David Brown-era competition Aston Martin and the only survivor with the Claude Hill four-cylinder engine. By the early 1950s it was running in club events, havibg been acquired by leading AMOC personality Christopher Angell but after a 1971 Le Mans demonstration parade was laid up in a Hertfordshire garden, from where it was stolen in 2002. Needing restoration but with almost all its original features (the 48-gallon fuel tank now lost) it thoroughly deserves a second chance.
