When John Bentley bought his Stag 10 years ago he thought he was getting a good one. Little did he know... ‘The car had covered just 65,000 miles with two owners, the second having owned it for 22 years. It drove well but at MoT time it only just scraped through. The next year it failed the test. When I started delving, the closer I looked the more rust I found and in the end it needed a complete restoration. I tracked down original panels – and lots of them – so everything fitted perfectly. Mick Ward at EJ Ward proved invaluable; he provided endless help, knowledge and parts. The rebuild took four years and since then the car has been to Europe every year, never giving any trouble at all. The Stag is fabulous to drive and very usable – I absolutely love it and just couldn’t imagine not having it now.’
