The St Mary’s Trophy was always a highlight of the Revival because of the diversity of cars – big Jags and American Fords with their raw muscle against less powerful but nimbler Minis and A35s. The giant killing was thrilling. A field of identical machines, even if they are A35s, takes all that variety away. By all means have an all-A35 race, just not at the expense of the actionpacked St Mary’s.
