Hill’s Elan +2 stays in UK
A derelict Lotus Elan Plus 2 gifted to Graham Hill by founder of Lotus Colin Chapman has sold for £23,520 – and it’s staying in the UK.
The 1968 model achieved this price despite being in need of a complete restoration. It was sold at Historics at Brooklands’ sale on 26 November.
John Williams of Historics at Brooklands says: ‘We are delighted that this notable piece of Lotus history is remaining in the UK and that it has been bought by a Lotus enthusiast who will restore it to its former glory.’
The history file presented with the car included a letter from Lotus Cars from 15 July 1970 stating: ‘Supplied to Graham Hill for his exclusive use during his associations with Team Lotus.’
