Dealer’s 78-mile MGB goes up for sale

1992-registered display model expected to sell for more than £25,000

-

An unregistered MGB with just 78 miles on the clock has been put up for sale by a classic car dealer in Lincolnshire.

The Snapdragon Yellow roadster – first registered on 31 December 1992 – was bought new by British Leyland dealer, M R Brown in Louth, but the owner decided to use it as a display model in his showroom.

The car remained in the owner’s family when the dealer went out of business. It’s now being advertised by Louth-based Woldside Classic and Sports Car.

The car is original inside and out. The running-in instructions are still in the windscreen, the unopened radio fitting kit is in the glovebox and the optional body decal kit is in the boot. The car has the original V5, its original six-month tax disc, an unopened tool kit, wet weather gear and spare key. It has a few scuffs accumulated from its years on showroom display but is otherwise in unused condition.

Woldside director Neil Thompson says that he has already had some offers for the car. ‘ The market would suggest that cars like this go for between £25,000 and £35,000 and we’ve already had some offers around that, but we’re not expecting to sell it until spring. ‘We haven’t put an exact price on the vehicle because we think it could generate some interesting offers considering the fact that it is untouched and unregistered.’ ❚ www.woldsideclassics.co.uk
