Further thoughts on whitewalls

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - This Week -

Following John Lakey’s feature on whitewall tyres (18 Jan), you then published a reader’s letter regarding a cheaper alternative, ie whitewall trims.

Having used trims like this in the past, I found that the interior compound they were made from soon deteriorated.

If used for motorway driving they will soon shred and be banging on the wheel arches – this happened to me and it’s a frightening experience. My advice would be for readers to follow John Lakey or opt for the real thing. Mike Foster, Nazeing, Essex

In last week’s issue The Slieve Donard Hotel was incorrectly described as The Slieve Donald Hotel – apologies.
