Jumping from the Puma to the MG turned out to be a nice transition. Once all the hair from Richard Gunn’s dogs had been hoovered out ( CCW, 8 February), the ZR was ready for another trip to London. A few roundabouts on the outskirts reminded me of how well the car handles, although unlocking it elicits a strange electronic hooting sound. As long is it doesn’t lock me out, though, I can put up with it. JS

The latest job on our S-class has been to sort out a fresh set of tyres to make sure we can make the most of the new discs when they arrive. The closest rubber to what Stuttgart originally fitted are Continentals, but we’ve gone for a set of (slightly) cheaper Bridgestones, and we’re looking forward to seeing how our S280 handles with them. The car’s responding well to Richard Kilpatrick’s ongoing fettling, too. DS
