Is the ice cream motor around?

-

The accompanying photo shows a car that my father owned in the 1950s, based on a 1936 Y-series Ford. It had been used for track racing in Northern Ireland.

My father and his friend made doors and had a hood made that they fitted themselves. It would get repainted every two years. When the photo was taken it had maroon mudguards and a cream body and my sister and I called it his ‘ice cream motor’!

Perhaps your readers might know more about this car and if it is tucked away in a corner of a barn somewhere? David Beattie, Newtownards, County Down
