BROOKLANDS MUSEUM, WEYBRIDGE, SURREY

-

Brooklands itself is an extremely special venue as it’s the site of the world’s first purpose-built racing circuit. Enough said. What makes it so enjoyable on Drive-It Day is its relaxed atmosphere. Turn up, park up, have a look around!

This is perfectly encapsulated by Tony North (pictured). He rocked up last year in his heavily modified 1968 Triumph Herald drag car, dropping jaws and breaking necks as he entered. Next to him was a Land Rover Discovery. And opposite him was a Triumph TR7. At other shows, cars are carefully categorised and carefully placed. And in a way, it kind of ruins all the free-and-easy fun.

Usual admission prices apply. Entry to the Drive-It Day parking for pre1983 vehicles is via the Campbell Gate off Brooklands Road. www.brooklandsmuseum.com 10am-5pm
