How many Renault 17 Gordinis are left in the UK? Two, according to the auctioneer – and here was one of them. It generated plenty of interest, and with good reason – the quirky looking Fuego predecessor was a practical, rapid and great handling car. A one-owner car with 75,000 miles on the clock, the bodywork wasn’t too bad – there was little or no sign of rust in the front wings, doors or rear arches and the interior was pretty tidy too while the glass had no nasty scratches and the wheels could easily be refurbished. All-in-all, it it thoroughly deserved the price it made, not least because it’s much more interesting than an equivalent Capri.
