WHY I LOVE MY GT V8

-

As general manager of the MG Owners’ Club, Richard is familiar with this model, having owned his 1974 V8 for 42 years. ‘I considered the V8 the ultimate MG at the time and the black paintwork and chrome bumpers really stood out,’ he says. ‘I certainly didn’t think I’d still own it after so many years. It’s just how things have evolved, and when I started working full time with the club back in 1980 I really didn’t think about parting with it. It’s got a 3.9-litre version of the V8 engine and a five-speed gearbox, plus a few other upgrades such as electric windows and a sunroof. It’s a very usable car – and the arrival of spring means there’s a great excuse to drive to work in it.‘
