Classic rental for Irish President

Lincoln-based JK Classics can count the President of Ireland as one of its first customers after launching its rental business in time for the Easter weekend.

Michael Higgins drove the company’s fully-restored 1938 Rover P2 16 Sports Saloon in Dublin as part of the city’s Easter Bank Holiday celebrations.

John O’Malley, owner of logistics company JK Movements, set up his rental venture after building his own collection of 25 cars and restoring them in-house. JK Classics’ manager Laurence Moran says: ‘After building up such a great collection John wanted to get them out driving and to start earning a bit of money after putting in the work to restore them.

‘Sending out a vehicle to the president of Ireland was built up with a bit of mystery. It took a few secretive emails before the person who contacted us finally revealed who the P2 was going to.’
