‘ The V8’s a rare and rewarding machine’

- RICHARD GUNN, CONTRIBUTOR

After the comparative failure of the MGC, the MGB GT V8 was another attempt to create a bigengined MGB. It was much more of a success as a performance car, but sales were even less than the ’C achieved. Still, that makes the GT V8 even more special as a classic – it’s a rare machine and a rewarding one to drive, with great handling and exhilarating, smooth performance. It doesn’t look that different to a standard MGB and there’s no convertible option. But that glorious V8 engine rather makes up for all that.
