Stanford Hall VW Show
The annual one-day community show that brings out the best vehicles – and not just VWs!
It is held for just one day in the year but it is a date that is written large in the diaries of Volkswagen fans from all over the UK.
Celebrating its 41st year, the show, which is organised by Leicestershire & Warwickshire Volkswagen Owners’ Club, has evolved into one of the best events of its kind and shows the breadth of interest in the marque and beyond.
You still find impressive numbers of Beetles, campers and vans around the splendid parkland setting of Stanford Hall, but also more examples of Karmann- Ghias, Type 3 and 4 saloons and Variant estates, Golfs, Polos etc. than you will find at most shows. Both air-cooled and water-cooled vehicles are catered for and there were great displays of Audis and Porsches – including a 52nd anniversary display of 912s.
A gathering from the DKW Owners’ Club attracted a lot of interest at this year’s event, with a notable number of different models. The club was formed back in 1951 when the pre-war DKWs were still in active use, and now caters for owners or those with an interest in DKW or Auto Union vehicles. In addition to the marque displays, there were also clubs that offered mixed delights with lots to discover in every corner of the spacious site, while a stroll around the public car park revealed many more fascinating vehicles – plenty of VWs, of course, but many others of various different makes and ages.
There were plenty of vehicles for sale with some sensible prices noted for projects and vehicles ready to go. Trade stands also reflected the diverse nature of the VW scene with products for sale ranging from the smallest of trim parts to full-blown body panels.
On this showing, roll on Stanford Hall VW Show 2018!
