Resto SEAT marks 60th
SEAT has exhibited a fully restored 600 convertible at the Automobile Barcelona car show in celebration of its 60th anniversary.
More than 30 people spent 1500 hours restoring the car, which was unveiled on 15 May. It needed painstaking electronic and mechanical work having been sitting for 25 years. More than 1000 original spare parts had to be located, the sliding roof was hand-restored and 50m of houndstooth fabric created to re-trim the original interior. The exterior was repainted by SEAT’s head of colour and trim, Jordi Font. He says: ‘It’s absolutely reminiscent of the first 600s.’ Project engineer Ángel Lahoz adds: ‘The final result is almost better than when it originally left the factory.’
The 600 will participate in events throughout the year in Spain. Toby Hall
