WHAT TO DO AT THE SCENE

Do not drive away.

Depending on the severity of the accident, check whether anyone is injured. If they are, contact the emergency services immediately.

Obtain details from the other drivers involved: name, address, telephone number, insurance company and, if possible, driver’s licence numbers.

Note the details of the vehicle; make, model, colour and registration number. If there are any witnesses, take names and contact details.

Keep a level head to be able to provide a consistent and accurate account of the incident. Should you possess a camera or smartphone, take photos of the incident and surrounding area.

Don’t apologise or admit any fault to the other party.

Inform your insurance company as soon as possible.
