Value My Classic – Mint 205 GTi’s value might just surprise you!

WHO David Clapham MILES 21,258 PROVENANCE Owned from new MODS None HOW MANY LEFT 1288 on road

-

HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?

I’m actually looking for a valuation on behalf of my partner. She has owned this car from new, though it was initially a company car, bought in 1989 by her employer from the Warwick Wright dealership in Chiswick. She later bought it from the company. The car has never been used much and the currently displayed mileage of 21,258 is absolutely genuine. The car is kept in a garage.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

There’s lots of documentation – all the service stamps and documents, old MoTs and so on. But largely the car is just as it left the factory and in amazing condition – the seats look almost new, including the notorious driver’s side bolsters, and even the front foglamps haven’t rusted yet. Though we have replaced the battery, fitted a new set of Hankook tyres and replaced a gas strut on

the rear hatch.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

The factory installed alarm needs some attention, though that’s hardly unusual – it is a 28-year-old system! It would also benefit from some refurbishment work on a couple of the alloy wheels.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

Not at all, unless you count the different brand of tyres to original.
