MEET THE VICTORS

-

VICTOR FB (1961-64)

Introduced a more European look that pre-empted the Cortina MkI by a year – but never met with the same sales success. Also introduced the performance VX4/90 spinoff for the first time.

VICTOR FC 101 (1964-67)

Vauxhall claimed the name represented the 101 improvements made over the FB – which included more shoulder room for occupants and the option of disc brakes with vacuum servo assistance. It was based on the FB, but with a stiffer (and slightly heavier) bodyshell.

VICTOR FD (1967-72)

Introduced rack-and-pinion steering – and the Coke bottle styling that was already proving a hit with Viva owners – to Victor buyers. Vauxhall devotees are also marking the FD’s 50th this year – turn the page for more on the celebrations.

VICTOR FE (1972-78)

The final Victor was based on the Opel Rekord’s floorpan but incorporated styling from Luton’s end – in fact, it was the last Vauxhall model to be designed independently of Opel. Production of the more luxurious versions was phased out in 1978 to make way for the Carlton.
