Land Rover tank!

-

Is a Sabre light reconnaissance tank a bit too blasé for your liking? Well, Bonhams has the tank for all of your needs.

It’s selling this 1958 Land Rover 109 Series 2 ‘Cuthbertson’, complete with its own tank tracks, at its Goodwood Revival auction on 9 September. With an estimate of £50k-60k, the Cuthbertson is road-registered and road legal. The seller suggests it would be perfect for use on an estate.

First registered on 8 September 1958, it was despatched on 12 September to SMT Sales and Service Company Limited, Carlisle. The Cuthbertson conversion was carried out later that year, and from there it has travelled around the world, returning to the UK in 2016.

Vehicle chassis and engine numbers are matching, the speedometer reading of 3981 is believed to be accurate and James A Cuthbertson Limited in Biggar, Lanarkshire, still holds records of the build.
