Royal Audi makes £32k

An Audi Cabriolet that was regularly driven by Diana, Princess of Wales, has sold at auction for £32,000.

Diana drove the 1994 Audi Cabriolet – which just missed its lower estimate of £35,000 at Coys’ Blenheim Palace sale on 15 July – after London main dealer, Dovercourt Audi of St Johns Wood, loaned it to her.

The Audi is still on its original registration number and has been kept in storage for the last eight years. The vendor bought it in 2004 and used it every day, before realising its importance and putting it into storage.

Another 1994 Audi Cabriolet – this one a car that the princess actually owned – sold at last year’s Silverstone Auctions NEC Classic Motor Show sale for £54,000.
