a tower of power

Historic castle provides the perfect show venue

- Dave Oliver

This one-day summer show, held in the shadow of Hedingham Castle’s 11th Century tower, marked its tenth anniversary with a record classic turnout.

Minis were especially well represented in the 130-strong gathering, with a rather down at heel-looking Clubman estate rubbing shoulders with a pristine late model Cooper Sport, complete with matching Mini trailer. There was also a sizeable contingent of US classics, including an elegant 1940s Plymouth Super Deluxe.

The Motion Pictures Motors group attracted a lot of interest. One of the original Reliant Regal vans used in

Only Fools and Horses formed the centrepiece of a wonderful homage to the TV show. Complementing the club stand, an imposing black Dodge Charger R/T like the one from the film Bullitt sitting beside its nemesis, a green Ford Mustang GT, complete with an eerily realistic Steve McQueen mannequin.

Event organiser, Amanda Beecroft, says that this year’s event was a huge success and attracted a significantly bigger crowd than last year’s event.

She says: ‘We had record attendance with over 70 club members, and around 100 pre-entered cars creating a wonderfully varied display.

‘I hope to see everybody again next year on 18 August, 2018.’
