Rally legends to relive past glories
More than 40 historic rally cars will take on Cheshire roads at Cholmondeley Castle on 28 October.
RallyFest will be part of the Dayinsure Wales Rally GB, the penultimate leg of the FIA World Rally Championship. The event will showcase some of rallying’s finest cars, allowing spectators to get a glimpse of the spectacular vehicles up close and in action, without having to trek into the Welsh forests where many of the timed stages take place.
Iconic rallying machines of yesteryear will appear under the ‘Rally Legends’ banner, encompassing Minis and Escorts from the 1960s alongside famous Group B vehicles, including the Lancia Stratos, Audi quattro and MG Metro 6R4. More modern WRC legends, such as the Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Evo and Ford Escort WRC, will also be on show as the catalogue of legends warm up spectators with static displays and demonstration runs of the parkland course, before the WRC cars and stars take to the tracks later in the day.
Managing director of Wales Rally GB, Ben Taylor, says: ‘Everyone loves historic rally cars and it was no surprise that they proved to be hugely popular, with thousands coming to Cholmondeley last year. This year we are serving up an even more comprehensive collection as part of what will be a much enhanced RallyFest.’ Toby Hall
