Start with the inner and outer sills, door bottoms, areas around the headlamps and lower quarter panels, then the front and rear valances.

innER SPACE

The front bulkhead needs a thorough checking, as do the floorpans, where the lower front wings meet the sills and the area around the steering box mounts. Inspect the boot floor and the area around the rear spring hangers.

BODY BEAUTiFUL

Body panels can be hard to find and all that chrome is difficult to replace and costs a fortune to refurbish. Interior parts are also scarce. The Vauxhall Cresta Club can help with finding rare spares, though.

EnginE iSSUES

Engines are known for minor oil leaks, which may take some tracing. Otherwise it’s just the normal check for excessive blue smoke and contaminat­ion suggesting excessive wear.
