Little-seen today and mostly forgotten by all but the most ardent British car enthusiasts, Lanchesters were relatively luxurious, being a cut above the mainstream makes but slotting in below parent company, Daimler, as well as Lagonda and Bentley. Mathewsons’ car was restored in 2008 to ‘a high standard’ and comes from a collection, the auctioneer says. Estimate looks fair for such an imposing car.
