1976 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow

-

Could this have been the best Silver Shadow offered in a classic sale in 2017? Forget the usual tired or warmed-over ex-wedding cars that still appear, because here was a lowmileage model with good history that had been in the hands of three owners (one of whom kept it for 27 years) before being bought by singer Jay Kay of Jamiroquai. The ageing Regency Bronze paint was changed to the little-seen (but fabulous) Royce Black Emerald metallic during the famous petrolhead’s ownership, the work carried out by London specialist Graeme Hunt to the tune of just over £22,000. That paint was still swimming pool deep, the bodywork lovely and the black interior showing very little other than light wear. The result was a superb Shadow and, being a late ‘1’, lacking the later Shadow 2’s less attractive energy bumpers and deep front air dam. A first-rate car bought at a sensible price.
