5 WAYS TO MAKE IT BETTER

-

1 UPGRADE THE DIFF

Most P4s have a 4.3:1 or 4.7:1 rear axle ratio, but the 95 got a 3.9:1 ratio, which can be fitted to any P4 for more relaxed cruising.

2 SWAP THE BRAKES

You can swap an early P4’s front drums for the later disc set-up, but do so and you’ll also have to swap the suspension.

3 GIVE IT OVERDRIVE

It’s possible to swap a nonoverdrive gearbox – complete with propshaft – for one fitted with overdrive, but the trick is tracking a good one down.

4 SHARPEN THINGS UP

P4s handle rather ponderously, but you can sharpen things up significantly by fitting a heavy-duty front anti-roll bar.

5 FIT AN ALTERNATOR

All P4s came factory fitted with a dynamo, but you can swap to a more efficient positive or negative earth alternator, and some even retain the looks of a period dynamo if you prefer.
