Seven brand new events are coming to the Endurance Rally Association (ERA) in the next four years. The new calendar will explore six continents between 2018 and 2021, with a total of 16 endurance rallies, among them the first in Australia.

The Trans-America Challenge combines great American roads with five-star luxury. Starting in Charleston on 27 May 2018, this is a three-week road trip through 12 states to the Seattle finish.

The first new classic rally of 2018 is the Himalayan Challenge on 21 September-11 October. This starts in Delhi, India, and finishes in Agra, and is aimed at experienced rally crews. The ERA launches the Adriatic Adventure in September 2019. This new rally explores the mountains of the inland Balkans and the Adriatic coastline. Rally New Zealand starts the 2020 diary in February, starting in Auckland and journeying to Christchurch over 24 days. A South American adventure from Lima to Cape Horn, ‘The Rally to the End of the World’, brings the year to a close.

The 2021 calendar begins with the inaugural Pearl of India, which takes in southern India and Sri Lanka over 21 days at the beginning of February.

The ABC Rally will put the ERA in Australia for the first time with its Antipodean adventure starting in Adelaide, into New South Wales and to Canberra via Bathurst, Australia’s famous race circuit.

Rally director, Fred Gallagher, says: ‘The ERA continues to go from strength to strength, and the next four years will see us doing what we do best – organising global events
