Six-monthly MoT?

I disagree with Laurence Bell’s comment regarding MoTs being worthless ( CCW, 18 October).

I am retired now but had my own garage for 44 years, and I believe an MoT should be six-monthly. Yes, the MoT states the vehicle was roadworthy at the point of being tested. I can tell you that, in general the motorist will try to spend as little as possible on maintenance and only spend when they need to. I have seen at first-hand hobby mechanics’ work and the scrapping of the MoT will see more dangerous vehicles on roads. Robert Morgan, Swansea
