Alex, a committee member of the Land Rover Series II Club (series2club.co.uk) owns this magnificent Dormobile. He says: ‘It’s the third Dormobile that I’ve restored and I’m already restoring my fourth. My wife and I covered thousands of miles in it during summer, driving through 14 countries. I’ve fitted a TDi engine and LT77 gearbox with a higher-ratio diff (from a V8). It’ll sit all day at 60mph, or even 70mph if you don’t mind the fuel consumption. The car also has a Zeus disc brake conversion (a £585 bolt-on kit) and a powerassisted steering set-up from the Defender, which makes the car a lot more enjoyable to drive.’
