From a battery powered Porsche to plastic Michelin men
Vectis Specialist Diecast & Timplate Sale, Thornaby, North Yorkshire, 10 October
Seems there’s no end to escalating Porsche prices – even if the car is a tinplate battery operated version!
A Distler Electro Matic 7500 Porsche Opentop Car was among the top-selling items at Vectis’s sale, when it made £552 – well above its £240-300 estimate. In
red livery with grey seating, the folded hood removed to reveal a clean battery compartment.
Other delights in the sale included a Dinky Toys No.3 Passenger Cars Gift Set including a Standard Vanguard saloon, Austin Taxi, Morris Oxford saloon, Rover
75 saloon, Plymouth estate car and Daimler Ambulance, that doubled its top estimate at £480.
Two plastic Mr Bibendum Michelin Man advertising figures sold for £120 each above their estimates of £20-30 and £30-50.
