Porsche marks 928’s 40th
Porsche celebrated 40 years of the 928 with a display in Hall 1.
Four of Porsche’s classic centres restored a 1978 928 campaigned by Richard Attwood in period earlier this year. And Attwood has been handed the keys once again, and is competing in this year’s HSCC ‘70s Road Sport Championship. He is currently leading his class in the competition with two races to go.
The car is maintained at Porsche Swindon, the second oldest Porsche dealership in the UK. Jonathan Sharp, sales executive of the centre, says: ‘We helped with the restoration of the car, and are involved in the upkeep. It’s a great machine, and Richard is such a gent and super-helpful.
‘It’s great to see that 928s are getting some love now, because they were seriously underappreciated for years, and it’s good to see them appreciating in value, especially now that they’re 40. The UK is a massive market for classic Porsches.’
