50 per cent more car clubs scheduled to appear at next year’s ExCel event

Organisers of the London Classic Car Show have listened to concerns voiced by CCW and the wider classic car scene.

Next year’s event will host 50 per cent more classic car clubs as it expands to its largest size yet at ExCel London on 15-18 February.

More than 30 car clubs will be taking part and it will now cover 43,000 sq.m of exhibition space, up from 36,000 sq. m in 2017, 32,000 sq. m in 2016 and just 18,000 sq. m at the inaugural show back in 2015. The increased size is thanks to an entire side of the exhibition centre being devoted to the show, with the car clubs now a seamless section of the show, rather than in a separate hall away from the main exhibits.

This, combined with the extra space that has been made available, has convinced many more classic car clubs to take part in the show, which is about to enter its fourth year.

As in previous years, the ‘Grand Avenue’ will run down the centre of the show, with classics driving through the hall throughout the day.

Event spokesman, Jonathan Gill, says: ‘ We’re adjusting to feedback from some that there could be more affordable cars at the show. The clubs bring that, as well as fantastic engagement with the visitors.’

This year’s event will focus on specials, limited editions, one-offs and prototypes. This will include a collection of unique street and competition cars renowned for their rarity, curiosity and desirability. Teaser information about specific examples will be released closer to the date.

Its sister show, the Historic Motorsport International, is also making a return, on the same weekend at the same venue.

Tickets start from £25 and include admission to both events.

?? ?? The Grand Avenue will run through the centre of the show and will allow visitors the chance to see, hear, and smell classic cars in full flow.
