Review: Barons
Flat-feeling sale nevertheless delivered the goods with some great buys
There was a marked contrast between Barons’ sale and SWVA’s of the previous day. Barons offered about the same number of cars, but the number of punters in the first two hours after the doors opened was nothing to write home about and the generally flat atmosphere was far from inspiring.
Nevertheless the sale’s star lot, the 1972 Stutz Blackhawk, soared way above its £22,000 upper estimate to a perky £34,650, accompanied by a pair of Ford Mustang notchbacks (1966 and 1967 models).
Also off to a new home was a 1971 BL Mini Cooper (£22,500), while more affordable Mini motoring was offered by a lovely-order 1996 Sprite that was bought well for £6820. 02380 668413 barons-auctions.com
