HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?

My wife and I bought it from a dealer in February 2016 for £62,000. A friend knew we were looking for ‘a car’ and although we had talked about Astons, Maseratis and Capris, nothing had captured our imagination enough to have us part with our money. The friend had bought a couple of Astons and a Lambo through a dealer friend and a chance conversation threw up this E-type as a possibility.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

We have written to DVLA, obtained the names and addresses of the five previous owners and written to them, three of whom we have spoken to. It was bought new in London and had the same owner for around 20 years. It was then sold to a family in Yorkshire and was with them for a similar time, staying within this family and passing from father to son. The current mileage is 17,200 and the family who owned it for a long period rarely used it. Although they can’t confirm the mileage, they don’t think it was very high.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

The car was bought with a view to doing a complete rebuild and returning it to its original Cotswold Blue, but the condition is still so good that it is hard to justify and we are having so much fun driving it. The car had been serviced and checked throughout and thoroughly cleaned. It is currently insured for £135,000.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

One owner had fiddled with it with a view to racing, but most of the changes have been put back to original.
