Lost Jensen FF resurfaces

Rare FF goes up for sale after being laid up for more than 36 years

A 1968 Jensen FF that has been off the road since at least 1981 is coming up for sale at Anglia Car Auctions’ 27 January sale as a private collector clears his site.

One of just 320 four-wheel-drive FFs made, the car is expected to fetch £20,000–30,000, having sat in a container on the vendor’s property for decades. The car is not on the DVLA’s database, which confirms that it has been off the road since at least 1981.

Markets editor, Richard Barnett, says: ‘I can’t recall a project FF ever coming up for auction, so this looks interesting and to be at a sensible price. The fact it’s unmolested and original makes it the sort of car that you’d really want to restore. I imagine that it’ll be bought by a gearhead – I don’t know if many collectors really know the difference between this and an Interceptor.’

While the doors and sills are rusty, the car is otherwise ‘remarkably sound’, with just 45,799 warranted miles racked up by its single owner before he put the car into storage. The interior is in particularly good condition, while the 6.3-litre Chrysler V8 is complete, if significantly corroded.

Anglia Car Auctions consultant, Guy Snelling, says: ‘It should be a straightforward car to restore, given that it’s simply been left alone for decades. There won’t be any bodged repairs and the car is complete. It’s a fantastic opportunity to return one of these wonderful British icons to the road.’
