$10m Porsche collection up for auction

-

A collection of 12 Porsche 911s looks set to fetch more than $10million (£7.3million) at auction in March.

RM Sotheby’s will be selling the cars at its Amelia Island Concours auction in Florida on 10 March.

The collection – ‘Exclusively Porsche – The 964 Collection’ – features 11 911 964s and one 930. A single collector bought the cars over the space of a decade, and the collection includes one model from each of the 964’s ‘Special’ high performance variants that were modified or built by Porsche’s ‘exclusive’ department.

The most valuable among the collection is a 1993 Carrera RSR 3.8 with 765km (475 miles) on the clock, which is expected to sell for in the region of $1.4 million (£1 million). A flatnose 1993 Turbo S is expected to reach $800,000 (£581,000).

Car specialist for RM Sotheby’s, Alexander Weaver, says: ‘The 964 Collection is without a doubt the most complete and best collection of limitedproduction Porsche 964s to ever come to public auction.

‘The owner of this collection was well ahead of his time in assembling this group, which represents some of the rarest models in the entire Porsche lineage.

‘We’ve had the privilege of bringing several exceptional collections of Porsche 911s to market over the last two years, and look forward to securing more strong results in Amelia Island, which is a proven venue for fresh-to-market rarities.’
