At least one extra sale is being planned for this year

‘We are planning to expand our auction offering in 2018’

How many sales are you holding this year?

With 2018 now well underway, we find ourselves already busy with consignments for our first classic auction of the year. This auction is shaping up to be an interesting event and a continuation of the market growth and demand we’ve seen during previous years, with attendance levels now regularly exceeding 1500 people on the day. We are expanding our auction offering in 2018 and will hold four on-site auctions. As a supporting partner of the Argyll Festival of Performance, we’ll be holding our first ever off-site classic auction, to be held in the grounds of Inveraray Castle on 2-3 June. We’re also actively pursuing a large private collection that may involve another off-site auction.

Do you feel an integral part of the classic movement?

We strongly believe that our visibility supporting classic car events across Scotland, our attendance at the NEC show and being an official partner and supporter of The Jim Clark Trust are paramount to sourcing classic entries, alongside our TV, radio, tabloid and social media ad campaigns in the weeks preceding our classic auctions.

Are most of the cars you offer from Scotland?

We find it amazing and immensely gratifying that our client base now covers the globe, with vendors and purchasers alike from as far afield as Australia, New Zealand and most of Europe, not forgetting our UK clientele and what seems to be a constant supply of classics which we continue to discover across Scotland. One example from 2017 was the 1957 Jensen Interceptor that appeared after being in storage for decades.

How do you see the classic market going in 2018?

In previous years we have seen hundreds of classics being re-homed, many breaking estimates, and as always the demand for fast Fords remains buoyant as their popularity continues. We are also witnessing a strong growth in younger enthusiasts who target cars of all ages, from very early examples to modern classics, which we find tremendously encouraging as these are the people who will keep the movement going. In conclusion we are eagerly awaiting the new challenges of 2018, along with the continuation and the growth we have steadily achieved in previous years.
