1963 MORGAN PLUS 4 SLR

This oddly-proportioned Morgan, with its reflective silver paintwork, really stood out in a field packed with MGBs, Porsche 911s and Triumph TR4s. One of only 26 made, the SLR’s swooping curves come courtesy of Stoke-based GRP specialist, EB Plastics, but underneath it’s all conventional Plus 4 mechanicals, including the Triumph engine. John Emberson’s car was one of three SLRs in this year’s Ronnie Hoare Trophy. Simon Orebi Gann’s dark green example failed to finish, but this one managed a midfield finish. Sounded great, too!
