Grand Prix parade that put Triumph TRs in the global spotlight, a show that raised more than £100k for charity
and a car run across ten countries have been hailed as some of the classic world’s biggest achievements at the National Car Club Awards.
The glittering ceremony, held during this year’s Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show, with Discovery, celebrated 18 club-led initiatives, events, magazines and websites from hundreds of entries.
Awards chairman, Lee Masters, says: ‘It’s really been embraced by the clubs. Every year we get more nominations, have longer shortlists and a more difficult time judging. Seeing how passionate the members are, the efforts they put in and what it means to the winners is joyous.’
The £105,000 raised at a single show, one man’s 54-year career with a club and a 700-strong gathering of V8 classics were among the big achievements celebrated at the National Car Club Awards.
The prestigious ceremony, held at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show, with Discovery, at the NEC last Saturday, also recognised Stirling Moss’ career and highlighted the best magazines, websites and charity initiatives. CCW editor, David Simister,
Practical Classics editor, Danny Hopkins, the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs’ David Whale and Tourism Ireland’s David Boyce sifted through a record-breaking number of entries, with prizes given out across 18 categories – including for stands and cars at the show itself.
Awards host, Mike Brewer, says: ‘The judges were overwhelmed and enthused by the variety of clubs and the number of entries received.
‘It’s fantastic being a part of this classic car community. Long may it continue – for another 50 years, maybe even 100 years!’
