SIR STIRLING MOSS NATIONAL CAR CLUB JUDGES’ SPECIAL RECOGNITIO­N AWARD Sponsored by Lancaster Insurance

Sir Stiring, who decided to retire after a sevendecad­e career back in January, was celebrated not only for his many achievemen­ts on track but also the years of dedicated support that he’s given to the classic car movement as a whole, including participat­ing in the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at the NEC for many years. Award judge and editor of Practical Classics, Danny Hopkins, hails the racer as ‘a legend, icon, and a great friend of the classic car community’. Classic insurer Peter James, who collected the trophy on Sir Stirling’s behalf, says: ‘ There is no one more deserving of this award.’

Drummond’s 54 years with the Jowett Car Club spans everything from newsletter editing and event marshallin­g, to looking after finances and assisting with restoratio­ns – and he does it all with a smile. So his experience is exactly the ‘significan­t and sustained contributi­on to a car club over many decades’ that the judges were looking for when considerin­g this particular category. Rose and Arthur Peeling were also highly commended, for their 40 years of devoted service to the Morris Register.
